Arura Academy of Health Sciences is affiliated with Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) http://www.kgumsb.edu.bt/. In the conference held at Alma-atta by WHO, it was stated that there was a very dire need for qualified nurses all over the world. It was stated that for the next half century, the world would not have enough qualified nurses. This emphatically shows the need for producing more qualified nurses who have a divergent role in providing health and medical care, both in rural and urban areas. The shortage of medical & health care professionals in the country remains a persistent problem too. In 2003 WHO(World Health Organization) census, there was only 173 Bhutanese GNM Nurses. Bhutan Government wants over 2100 nurses in the next five years and the Bhutanese youth today look for job oriented training programs. Arura Academy of Health Sciences has been established in 2014 to provide these required platforms.
